Former federal executive director of NEOS and political consultant Feri Thierry will take over the function of secretary general of the European Forum Alpbach at the beginning of January 2022 – Thierry will manage both the Association and the Foundation. “The operational integration of the Foundation and the Association is an important step towards a more powerful organisation – our goal as executive board is to make Alpbach even more international, diverse, solution-oriented and younger, thus making a significant contribution to Europe’s future,” explains Andreas Treichl, EFA President.
Feri Thierry was previously managing director of the agency “365 Sherpas” (Vienna office), which specialises in political-strategic communications consulting for companies, associations and institutions. Thierry has a long history of working with public and political organisations and is particularly familiar with the linkages between politics, business and society. He has been working as a political consultant since 2004. For ten years, he was the owner and managing director of “Thierry Politikberatung”. From 2013 to 2016, he was the federal executive director of NEOS and was responsible for the development as well as strategic communication of the party. “I am pleased that with Feri Thierry we were able to win a Secretary General for the European Forum Alpbach who not only sees Europe as an essential force, but also brings much experience to adapt an organisation such as Alpbach to today’s new challenges,” says Andreas Treichl.

Sonja Jöchtl, Managing Director of the Foundation, will leave the EFA at the end of 2021 to implement new projects in the Foundation sector. Jöchtl significantly contributed to setting up the international foundation network.
Werner Wutscher, former Secretary General, will retire from the operational position at the association in order to intensify his entrepreneurial activities with his own company “New Venture Scouting” as well as with his investments.
Both will remain closely connected to the European Forum Alpbach and its network. Wutscher will be co-opted into the board, and Jöchtl will continue to work with the EFA content-wise. “The European Forum Alpbach 2021 was a great success both in terms of content and economical, for which I would like to thank Werner Wutscher in particular. The same goes for Sonja Jöchtl and her work for the Foundation. I wish them all the best for their professional and private future,” says EFA President Andreas Treichl.
